The Westin Bahrain City Centre has launched a new healthy children’s menu with a young chef competition in partnership with Lycée Français MLF de Bahreïn.

The ‘Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids’ is part of the company’s wellbeing movement and aims to engage children in the value of healthy eating.

Ashley Koff R.D., Eat Well Westin Council Member said, “My goal is to help guests take the stress out of eating well through a series of fun but engaging initiatives such as the Westin Kid's Cook Off.

“The Westin Kids Cook Off builds on the launch of the Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids in helping to combat the challenges parents face and inspire families to cook together and lead healthier lifestyles.”

Last week Westin’s representatives visited the Lycée where 50 children took part in an interactive contest to be able to participate in the Mini SuperChefs competition at the hotel.

At the pre-selection event the children, aged 7-13 were asked to identify various superfoods by tasting them and then answering questions.

The 25 children with the most correct answers were shortlisted to attend the Westin Kids Cook Off at the hotel.

Finalists showed off their culinary skills by preparing healthy recipes, which were taste-tested by a panel of judges.

The two winners, Candyce Roth and Emma-Louise Girod, were awarded ‘Bahrain Westin SuperChef’ titles, each winning breakfast for a family of four at the hotel’s Saveur restaurant.

The Westin Kid’s Cook Off Competition is the latest initiative to come under the ‘Eat Well’ wellness brand pillar, aimed at inspiring wellbeing through healthy eating.

A full Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids will soon be available at Saveur restaurant at The Westin Bahrain City Centre.

The Wellbeing Movement at Westin Hotels globally, is designed to inspire guests and staff to pursue wellbeing and discover what makes them feel their best.

The year-long initiative was launched July 2014 and is dedicated to encouraging a healthy lifestyle through existing programmes and the addition of new global partnerships that touch on Westin’s six pillars of wellbeing: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well and Play Well.
